We are hiring a Technical and Regulatory Affairs Manager to join the EBB Team

The organisation:

The European Biodiesel Board (EBB) is a Brussels-based non-profit organization established in 1997, grouping the major European Union (EU) biodiesel producers. The EBB promotes the use of biodiesel in the EU, and participates in the elaboration of the EU energy, climate change, renewable energies, transport, agriculture policies, as well as any other policies relevant to the biodiesel industry. The EBB represents an industry at the heart of almost all hot-button issues discussed today. From climate change to international trade and energy to agriculture, if there is an issue you’ve been reading about, there’s a good chance EBB is affected.

Position offered:

Based in Brussels, Belgium, the EBB has a small but dynamic team looking for a Technical and Regulatory Affairs Manager to support the work of EBB in the field of standardisation, REACH, and technical and regulatory affairs. EBB encourages applications from candidates with unusual professional backgrounds, although a scientific or engineering background is desirable. EBB is offering a permanent employment contract based on Belgian law. • Administer the EBB REACH Consortium under the supervision of the Reach Steering Committee, helping ensure its smooth operation. This will involve coordinating the general day-to-day administration of the Consortium, including managing the tasks of EBB external consultants and organising key events such as the EBB REACH Consortium General Assembly.
  • Conduct technical analysis of relevant European directives, regulations and European Commission legislative proposals, identifying and developing EBB strategic policy and lobbying positions in cooperation with the policy and communication team.
  • Liaise with European Institutions and key stakeholders in the EU biofuels chain, automotive and transport industries, and NGOs.
  • Take on the crucial responsibility of supporting EBB members on technical issues, ensuring their compliance with and awareness of changes to European standards and directives.
  • Act as Secretary of the Technical Working Group, taking minutes of the Group meetings in collaboration with the TWG Chair, helping coordinate the EBB Technical Working Group meetings.
  • Where necessary, assist the policy and communication team in developing accessible and engaging technical communication materials.
  • Assist with the general functioning of the EBB Secretariat, including organising events like the EBB General Assembly.

  • Minimum 3 years of proven, hands-on relevant professional experience (more senior candidates are also encouraged to apply).
  • Interest, experience and/or qualifications in chemistry for the automotive, industrial, and environmental sectors;
  • Prior experience with REACH is a plus.
  • Good understanding of the EU policy and/or standard making processes.
